About us

PDSI Contractors is a Minority General Contractor, Construction Manager, and Program Manager.  In our commitment to satisfy, we provide numerous tools and methods necessary to meet your goals.  We are an accomplished Design/Build Contractor, experienced in project fast-tracking.  We have experienced skill tradesmen allowing us to offer a wide range of self-perform capabilities.  Our ability to self-perform enables us to have direct control over each project.

Our company began operating over 20 years ago as Pontiac Drywall Systems, Inc. as a drywall / carpentry subcontractor.  A majority of our work was for the Auto Industry, small retail centers, small office buildings and HUD Housing projects.  Over the years we grew into a larger subcontractor and our client base expanded to do larger projects at Metro Airport, the MGM Casino in Detroit and at that time we began to take on “General Trade” Contracts for some of the areas larger General Contractors, as well as, act as a General Contractor on small retail and housing projects.

Because of this natural progression in the development of the company in 2008 we changed the focus of the company from that of a subcontractor to dedicating over 90% of our contracts as a General Contractor.  It was shortly thereafter that we began pursuing projects for the various branches of the U.S. Government.  In the last 3 years we have successfully completed several projects ranging in size and complexity for various branches of the government.  We recently have complete projects for the USACE, the USCG and GSA.

PDSI has completed a $5.4M interior renovation project at the McNamara Building in Detroit, MI., along with a $7.4 million addition to the VA Facility in Battle Creek, MI.    The VA project consisted of an addition of 11,000 sf. of treatment rooms, the removal, relocation and replacement of the primary electrical service that serves ½ of the campus as well as extensive modification to the steam and HVAC system for the existing building that the two additions are being built.

PDSI was sole sourced the project as the Design Build GC to perform the energy upgrades at the Ashland, WI Visitor Center For the USDA Forest Service. Work included installation of Photovoltaic Panels, new HVAC equipment, install foam insulation throughout building, energy efficient lighting modernization, toilet and plumbing fixture upgrades, new cedar siding and curtainwall weatherization. The project was a two Phase design build. The building remained fully occupied throughout construction which required detailed coordination with the visitor center staff. The project received a very good CPARS rating.

PDSI currently has a bonding capacity of $10M single project and $25M aggregate and our current EMR is .81. In the last five years PDSI has completed 25 projects for different federal agencies totaling over 80 million with no recordable injuries.
